Is it extremism to seek a life dominated by the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ? If yes, then call me an extremist.
I’ve been reading the book, “The Power of the Spirit,” by William Law. He laments about the lack of desire for the Holy Spirit, and refers to those who seek the Spirit as extremists. Jesus offers all of us the gift of His Spirit, to live within us and help us through this trouble-filled life. Yet so few seem to accept Jesus’ gift.
First, my writing isn't about me. Don’t want the attention, don’t want to feed my ravenous ego (yep, I’m just a typical pride-plagued human).
But I love writing - it gets me out of bed when it's way too dark, just so I can do some writing before heading off to work. I write because I’m passionate about God, Jesus, His Spirit, and His truth. And, I feel the Holy Spirit gets shortchanged in the world we call Christianity. The truth is sometimes lacking too.
It is not that Jesus offers all of us the gift of His Spirit. Jesus offers us the Spirit of God and not his power or mind. Jesus also never wanted to do his own will but the will of his heavenly Father, and that is also what he wants from us, that we follow him to his Father, prepared to do the Will of God, and not ours.
