His Truth Will Set You Free

Listen to what Jesus says; “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

What is Christianity?

Being good, loving others, going to church, having faith in Jesus. These are all good pieces of the Christianity puzzle. And then, being hypocritical and judgmental … oops, I wandered off into people’s perceptions rather than the truth.

But what is the core truth of what it means to be a Christian? The Apostle Paul might summarize it as having faith, hope and love. I like this answer. But for me, the core answer goes even deeper … to trust.

It’s my trust in Jesus that allows me to have faith, hope and love. Christianity is trusting what Jesus said and promised as recorded in the Bible. It’s trusting that Jesus alone will save us, rather than our own efforts. And it’s trusting in the presence of the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus, here within each of us who believe. And to believe requires trust.

Christianity is trust.

Reflections on a double life... I'm just a wanna-be writer. What's it like trying to do serious writing while also being consumed with a full-time engineering job? Between the two, I sometimes don't get much sleep. But I love writing - it gets me out of bed when it's way too dark, just so I can do some work on my book before heading off to work. I'm also passionate about the truth of God and Jesus, a truth that is not always visible in the outward view of the Christian religion. It's this passion that has pulled me out of bed to write for over 6 years now, still working on the same book, a book about truth. Will it ever be finished? God knows.

  1. I agree with you but I also think that Christianity is a lifestyle in which we should reflect the fruits of the Holy Spirit, be a witness to others and show the love of God. Christianity is more than a label for religion it’s all about a relationship with Jesus for me :)

  3. Yes, if we can’t trust that God exists, then we can’t even become Christians.

  4. Yes so True, Jesus is indeed The Truth and He has set us free but many do not know what they have been set free from, even though we see it clearly confirmed in the Scriptures below and there are many more Scriptures if wanted.

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to Sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from Sin, and become Servants to God, ye have your Fruit unto Holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of Sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to Sin because God’s seed remains in him he cannot go on Sinning because he has been Born of God.

1 John 2:4-6 He that saith I know Him and keepeth not His Commandments is a liar and the Truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His Word in him verily is the Love of God Perfected. Hereby we know that we are in Him; he that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

God tells us He knows those who are His even before we are conceived (2Timothy 2:19-21) yes He knows our Name and it is engraved on His hands by the Nails that Jesus was afflicted by on the cross, our sin put Him there but we are forgiven by Grace and when Born Again will also show we are as we aim to be perfected in Love (Matthew 5:48 -Hebrews 6:1 -Philippians 3:14-16 -2Timothy 3:17-1John 4:17-19 -1John 4:16-17 -2Corinthians 13:11) putting our Carnal flesh to death that causes us to sin. (Romans 8 :12-15- Romans6 -Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 5:24 -26) God tells us to rebuke, warn and correct those who Sin in Love and for Love, it is not Love to allow Satan to get a foothold in someones life by ignoring their sin.

Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers/sisters, we have an obligation but it is not to the Sinful nature, to live according to it. or if you live according to the Sinful nature, you will die but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons/daughters of God.
