His Truth Will Set You Free

Listen to what Jesus says; “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

Church for the Un-churched

churchless 2

Did you know that most of the people who don’t go to a Christian church had earlier in their life attended church? This is most apparent with the young adult generation, like from 18 to 30 years old. They attended as a kid, probably because their parents dragged them there, but they followed a different path when they gained their adult freedom.

I’m reading “Churchless,” by George Barna and David Kinnaman. It’s a book based on survey results of those who don’t go to a Christian church.

I just finished reading a chapter that describes the reasons young adults no longer go to church. And then this idea slipped into my mind: instead of the traditional brick-and-mortar church, what if there were an on-line church? Maybe it could be a Facebook group, where people go to talk about Jesus. Would this be more appealing than a traditional church? Might this type of church be able to avoid the turn-offs of a traditional church?

Please let me know if there is such an on-line church. What do you think of the idea? Thanks.

Reflections on a double life... I'm just a wanna-be writer. What's it like trying to do serious writing while also being consumed with a full-time engineering job? Between the two, I sometimes don't get much sleep. But I love writing - it gets me out of bed when it's way too dark, just so I can do some work on my book before heading off to work. I'm also passionate about the truth of God and Jesus, a truth that is not always visible in the outward view of the Christian religion. It's this passion that has pulled me out of bed to write for over 6 years now, still working on the same book, a book about truth. Will it ever be finished? God knows.

  1. I think this would be much like the ‘live stream’ online viewing of churches that offer it. Our church (Resurrection Fellowship in Loveland, Co. has ‘live streaming’ of every service (5:00 p.m., Saturdays, and 8:30 & 10:30 a.m., Sundays) every week. Their website address is http://www.rez.org if you want to visit their website or pass the info. on to others, C.J. I think most of the bigger churches now offer it and with our church they have an active online link for people to call in a prayer request during the live streaming of the service and stay in contact with a staff member for needed counseling and an invitation to accept Christ as their Savior while online. It is a wonderful immediate contact option our church offers.

  4. I think you can connect to stream live but it won’t suffice to call it an online church. Youths can have a group online to help sharpen one another but it is not the same thing as being in the traditional setting.I do not think we youths should let the times change us but we change the times. Let streaming live be an option when situations cant permit you be there live and still keep your spirit in tune
