…If you’re the “wrong” sexual orientation, He does – according to some very outspoken individuals. Unfortunately for my parents, they recently encountered a group of people who believe that “God hates fags,” as their picket signs proclaimed.
While heading to our house for dinner last weekend, my parents came across a scattered group of bicyclists, strung out over about a half mile of roadway. When rounding a corner, those on the bicycles as well as my parents in their car, were confronted by a gang of protestors, with picket signs that read, “God Hates You!” and “God Hates Fags!”, and other such slogans of hate.
Needless to say, my parents were rather upset by the whole thing. When they arrived for dinner, the first thing my step-father asked was, “Where’s the vodka?” (not really – I just felt like injecting some humor).
So what is the truth behind the claim that God hates homosexuals? If you know anything about God, you probably already know the answer. And by that it’s clear that the protestors, who pretend to know the mind of God, really know nothing about Him.
The truth is found in Jesus’ own words…
“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:35-36)
Love your enemies; be kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Jesus is only calling us to live as He lived, to behave as He behaved, to love as He loved. Does it look like God hates anyone? I don’t think God considered homosexuals His enemy, though He may consider them wicked since I believe the bible tells me that all who sin are considered wicked. So at the very least, Jesus is asking me to be kind to homosexuals.
It’s too bad that those who profess to know the mind of God apparently don’t take the time to read His word. If you’re one of those who are a victim of hate, by either giving or receiving hate, then find freedom from your hate by embracing the truth of Jesus Christ.

It’s not some “out-spoken” individuals who decree that “God hates fags,” the Old Testament does. They just convey the message, granted their all indoctrinated morons, but so are most Christians to be honest.
“The truth is found in Jesus’ own words…” – Why can the truth not be found in the Old Testament? Why value Jesus words more? Is it because they offer a less frightening image of God, an image that is a lot easier for the public to deal with, because nobody gets raped or killed under Gods will?
It’s too late for me to bother going into this argument.
So I’ll just summarise.
Christianity, is moronic. So is the OT, and the NT, so are all those who picket “in the name of God”, all those who try to justify their actions by the bible, and all those who decide what’s right and what’s wrong by one book.

Hey Virgil (I’ve always wanted to say that),
Jesus actually talks more about hell than the Old Testament. And he raises the bar on what it means to be acceptable to God. Read Luke 13 (I think it is) where Jesus deals with the issue of people who’ve been killed in an accident – a fallen tower.
And hey Mr E.D. (I certainly never thought I’d get to say that!),
Perhaps read “Why God won’t send homosexuals to hell” on my blog. Don’t draw any inferences from the title though: it was meant to be eye-catching.

Since the answer to your question would have to come from the OT and NT in order to be authoritative (and not just opinion), and since you believe the OT and NT are moronic, there’s no point in anyone trying to address your question (I believe that in itself would be “moronic”, as you are fond of saying).
Yet for anyone else out there who’s willing to look at the Bible objectively, I would recommend just reading it. This will take some time, but if you can maintain your objectivity, you will likely learn a lot. And you’ll find the answer to Virgil’s question.

I ran into those same signs outside a musical performance, with my mother-in-law in tow, no less. I was a little amused, as I am with your story, that someone would assume that just because men are dancers, (or bicyclists?) that they are gay.
Actually, the NT hits on sexual immorality in general, but somehow we don’t work up quite the same head of steam about opposite sex couples living together as we do same sex. (And I’m not just talking about the youngsters, here–I know seniors citizens who chose not to get married for financial reasons.)
I agree with your post–it’s not up to decide who God does or doesn’t hate.

Listen to what Jesus says; “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NIV)
Jesus said, “I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it” (John#14:13,14). That is a fantastic promise! But it must be understood properly, because simply adding “in Jesus’ name” to the end of every prayer doesn’t guarantee an answer.

I don’t think it is fair to say God hates f-gs. It would be more honest to warn that f-gs hate God’s law. They hate the human family, they hate Christian theology. The hate the Christian truth that has kept the world sane. They hate the father, they hate the mother, and the Bible warns us that if we do not preach against those who hate the human father, then the earth will face a terrible curse.
Preach the Spirit of Elijah you don’t have to mention homosexuals.

Interesting thought, I just came across this very interesting verse.
“And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.”
Leviticus 20:23
It seems God may in fact hate people. But after thinking over this verse and comparing it to other verses, I believe God may hate groups of people, so God may not hate an individual sinner but he does seem the hate an evil nation, or the gay community in general. I think this means God does not only judge us as individuals he also judges us as groups, even though he does not hate the individual he will hate and curse the group.

I think you’re very close to the truth, but not quite there. Yes, God does not hate individuals. But He doesn’t hate groups either. What God hates is not the person, but the sin. I consider this such a critically important topic, that I’m compelled to jump in with both feet again. So, here goes…
I caution anyone who draws conclusions about the nature of God from only a handful of verses. How can you pretend to know someone by reading only scattered pieces from their biography? To truly know God, you need to consider His entire biography.
Also, maybe take another look at the verses that give you the impression that God hates groups of people. Do these verses really say God hates, or do they say God is angry? There is a difference. I can be very angry at my children, but I will never hate them. God too can be angry at His children, yet at the same time love them.
Here’s another fundamental truth that is often forgotten: if God really hates groups of people because of their sinful actions, then why did he send His son Jesus Christ to take the penalty for all those sinful actions?
Look through your bible and you will find more evidence of God’s love than His anger. Here is a brief list of some randomly-selected verses that may shine more light on the nature of God. Instead of me trying to convince anyone that God doesn’t hate, I’d rather let His own words do the convincing:
