This web site is all about truth and encouragement. May you come to know the genuine truth of Jesus Christ, and I encourage you to totally embrace His truth and leave the deceptions of the past behind… and His truth will set you free.
There are sources of un-truth I wish to address in this web site, such as:
- Ever since Jesus preached His gospel while walking the roads of ancient Palestine, people have felt the apparent need to put their own stamp on the truths He had proclaimed. Perhaps they felt His message would be improved with their own personal modifications. Or maybe they were not able to accept His message as-is, and they needed to reshape it into something they could agree with. Whatever the reason, the result is a perverted message that does not reflect the original truth of Jesus.
- Jesus said “By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35 TNIV). As Christians, many of us do not lead by a very good example. Those who view Christianity from the outside perceive a poor image of what Christianity is truly about – the love does not stand out.
The purpose of the commentaries contained herein is to point out errors in both theology and behavior. The truth as stated in the bible will be compared to an example of a message commonly experienced in our daily lives. In many cases, the differences between what is spoken today, and what Jesus spoke 2000 years ago are severe.
Why is it that some are compelled to modify the gospel? The root of this habit goes back to Adam and Eve, who having believed in Satan’s deception, then believed they knew better than God. This doomed the rest of humanity to suffer from the same ego ailment; it’s a genetic disease. Everyone suffers from believing they know more or know better than God. This is clearly evidenced by how we ignore the advice and direction that God has given us. This disease of selfish pride also motivates some to not only ignore God, but to re-make God and His message into their own image.
And what is the affect of a perverted gospel upon those who are drawn to believe it? In effect, they become slaves of the perverted message. They come to believe in a “truth” that is not real.
A Bit About the Author
Why is it that I shall remain anonymous? Seeking attention would be just another way to put myself above God. If this web site is to be all about combating the human desire to put ourselves above God – and believe me I’m as much a victim of this disease as anyone else – then I should at least avoid trying to take credit for anything of value that might show up here. I need to practice what I preach. Therefore, you can call me E.D. Jones, and the real me will remain hidden, in the background. In this way, Jesus may more effectively be in the foreground. As John the Baptist said, “He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30, NIV) Try it; it feels terrific!
I am not here to judge. My opinion is not at all important. I am only trying to clearly convey what I believe Jesus’ opinion would be, as He has shared in His Bible.
A favor of You?
One favor, please: challenge me if I ever deviate from my purpose, if I ever post an opinion that differs from God’s truth, if I appear judgmental, or if you see me otherwise drifting away from what God says in the bible. I need your help to point out my errors and get me back on track when I drift. Thank you and may God bless you and enlighten you with the understanding of His truth.
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
(John 8:32, NIV)
